 I do – at a Michelin-star restaurant. Gabrielle Konali

How many films are there where the big question is popped in a candlelit setting by a suitor down on one knee? So, for many of you looking for the perfect place for this important moment, proposing over a romantic meal has become a bit of a cliché. But not all restaurants are the same.

Within the wide range of options available to you, Michelin-star restaurants are distinguished for excellence and we are privileged to have a few in the Canary Islands.

Nub

This is the most recent addition to the exclusive list. It is located in La Laguna Gran Hotel in the historic quarter of San Cristóbal de La Laguna and is run by Andrea Bernardi and Fernanda Fuentes. Their culinary creations are all about fresh, light, modern compositions. Immerse yourself in a warm, pleasant atmosphere that will enamour you with every bite.

Kazan

Its name—Kazan—means “volcano” and this is a ritual nod at both the magical setting of Mount Teide and the explosion of tastes that guests can experience. Here you will find classic Japanese cuisine with a local twist and amazing dishes of the day and Omakase menus suggested by the chef. Their wines from the Canary Islands—which they will be delighted to advise you on—are perfect for toasting to this new stage of your life.

El Rincón de Juan Carlos

Juan Carlos and Jonathan Padrón add a contemporary touch to Canary Islands cuisine, following the latest gastronomic trends and always aiming to be at the avant-garde of the sector creating stylish recipes. A magnificent setting and excellently presented dishes under a star-studded sky, with the sound of the sea reaching our ears from below the Los Gigantes Cliffs.

The Hotel Ritz-Carlton Abama goes a step beyond with the establishment housing two of these incredible restaurants:

Abama Kabuki

Its appearance transmits the ceremonial aura inherent to Japanese culture. The combination of flavours is a pleasure for the senses: from the sashimi to the robata—or Japanese grill—and the service is unbeatable.

M.B.

The initials of the fabulous Martín Berasategui are a seal of great quality wherever they are seen. Get ready for a gastronomic experience taken to another level, as this is the only restaurant on the list to have received 2 Michelin stars. Every dish is a work of art in itself.

Now you just have to decide which of these is the perfect spot for sharing that special moment.

Canary Islands. The perfect destination for saying “I do”.
