Anton and Fayna, a dream wedding in the Canary Islands (II)

28 june 2016

The build-up to the wedding was a hectic time for Anton Wierenga and Fayna Krom, however, that didn’t mean that they did not have time to enjoy themselves with their daughters, Yaiza and Rosa. Interviews, photo shoots and excursions were an opportunity to see Lanzarote's most beautiful landscapes.

We're not in the least bit nervous. We’re very laid back. Our wedding planner has everything under control.

Our favourite parts have been the weather and the people. We’re had a lot of contact with the local island people. We think they're lovely.

On 30 April, after 17 years together, this Dutch couple tied the knot surrounded by friends and family. Almost 70 guests were there to witness this dream wedding.

The ceremony started mid-afternoon. From the spacious terrace and with views over the island of Fuerteventura, they felt the sea breeze as they tied the knot. Their girls led the party to the spot; Anton accompanied by his mother and Fayna by her father.  The couple's excitement was palpable, as was their witnesses’ joy to be part of such an important moment of their lives.

Two officials conducted the ceremony in Spanish and English, then family and friends applauded Anton and Fayna’s first kiss as husband and wife.

Cocktails were served on the Canary Island patio. Everyone used this time before the reception to congratulate the bride and groom and to enjoy a variety of different nibbles and some live violin music.

The buffet-style dinner was held in a white, pink and gold themed room with views over Fuerteventura. The highlight of the dessert table was a lemon sponge wedding cake filled with cream cheese icing.

Although the newly-weds were involved with all the preparations, the couple had some surprises in store for them on the big day. There was a photo booth, a panel with a photo with the couple and their daughter where they thanked their guests, a very special guest book and a video was screened with photographs taken during a pre-wedding session.

The guests were delighted, as were the lucky winners of the Win your dream wedding in the Canary Islands competition. They said that this was not only because it was a unique experience, but also because of the work that went on behind the scenes and the surprises that were laid on for them. Reviews like this one show that this sector goes beyond the holiday industry, showing the quality of service offered by Canary Island professionals.

How about you? What will your dream Canary Islands wedding be like?
